Phillip E. Rothwell of Rochester passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Golden Living East Nursing Home after a brief battle with cancer.
Phillip was born in Minneapolis, MN on December 26th 1933 and was raised near Alma, WI.? He married Ila Treder on Febraury 19th 1955.? After moving to Rochester, Phillip worked for Kruse Lumber for many years.? Later, he and Fay Yennie partnered for many years to build many beautiful homes throughout Rochester.? At different times throughout his career as a home builder his three sons were privileged to work with him and Fay.
Phillip retired in 1995 from home building yet continued to be active using his woodworking skills to create many crafts and other assorted wood products for friends and family.? In his free time, he enjoyed watching high school sports many times going to games at tournament time even when he did not know any of the players from either team.? He also enjoyed listening to or watching Minnesota Twins games throughout the summer with Ila.? In the fall, Phillip had a passion for pheasant hunting with friends and family and experienced many wonderful excursions.? His hunting passion was passed along to his sons and now to his grandchildren. ?Throughout the past several years Phillip always enjoyed going to coffee in the morning to visit with the many friends that gathered each morning to do so.
Phillip is survived by his wife Ila, sons, Bruce (Judy), Rochester, Brian (Sheila), Hayfield, Bryce (Nancy), Eau Claire WI and three grandchildren, Bryanna and Brayden, Eau Claire WI, and Lydia, Springfield, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Margaret and his brother Gene.
A Memorial service will be held Monday, February 4th at 11:00AM at Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman Wahl officiating.? Visitation will begin at 10:00AM prior to the service at the church.
